Metal plate
A 1'x1' plate is set on top of the gravel and the post is installed
Adjustment bolt
At the top, there is a large bolt that is used to adjust the height of the post. It is important that the post be adjustable in case of settling.
Supplemental beam
A pully system is used to hold the beam in place until the posts are installed and adjusted properly.
The Smartjack is connected with the beam
Here you can clearly see the adjustment bolt and the joist assist bracket
Floor is restored
Once everything is in place, the concrete basement floor can be restored.
Engineered base
There is an engineered base for the Smartjacks. it starts with a hole below the floor which is 2'x2'x2' hole. The hole is then filled with fresh gravel which is tamped down every few inches. THe 1'x1' plate is set on top of the gravel.
Joist assist brackets
The beam connects to the joists with a joist assist bracket. this will spread the load more evenly across the joist.
