Foundation Repair Photo Album: Bowing walls in Niagara Falls, On

Vixky & Tahir were waterproofing their basement in Niagara Falls, ON and they noticed horizontal cracks in the mortar joints. Omni Basement Systems recommended an interior waterproofing system and our Carbon Armor strips from Supportworks. Carbon Armor is 4" or 7" wide strips of carbon fiber which is adhered tot he foundation with epoxy. The first step is to grind the wall down where the strips are being applied, then mix up the epoxy to adhere the strips in a timely manor. Once the epoxy has set, holes are drilled into the block cavities and the lower 4 rows of blocks are filled with grout.

Floor is opened up at perimeter.

To prepare for waterproofing the floor is opened up and a sump is installed

Carbon fiber strips are applieed

Carbon Armor are 7" wide carbon fiber strips.

Spacing

The Strips are spaced approx. 4 feet apart for best protection.

It is necessary to fully protect the wall to have many strips spaced 4' apart

Wall Defense straps

In areas that are not currently bowing but has the potential, Omni adds Wall defense straps. These are 4" wide instead of the 7" wide used for more severe bowing.
