Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Repair crawlspace in St. Catharines, ON

Robin has a house in St. Catharines, on with a nasty crawlspace. Robin decided it was time to do something about it and she called Omni Basement Systems to repair it. The most important thing to do in your crawlspace is to control the earth moisture there and prevent further wood rot. by doing this, you can save energy on heat and save money on wood repair to your home. The was also some structural; repairs that needed to be done as well. The floor joists needed to be strengthened and they needed support. First the moisture. Omni installed the incredible Cleanspace liner system over the dirt floor and sealed it against the walls and any other objects such as a post. Second the joists were sistered and SmartJaxks from Supportwoks were installed. Now the space can be insulated by a sprayfoam to create a warm, dry and safe environment.

Drainage matting is installed directly over the dirt floor.

The Supplemental beam is placed directly on to the floor joists and the SmartJacks supports the beam.

Cleanspace Liner

The Cleanspace liner is a 20 mil poly liner that is installed in the crawlspace. This poly is made up of 7 layers which include cord reinforcing so that the liner can not rip or come off the wall .

The SmartJacks by Supportworks are installed and adjusted. the cleanspace is sealed against the posts.

When your crawlsapce is damp, the insulation in the floor joists are not doing anything except acting as a sponge and holding moisture against the joists and causing rot. the air gaps in the insulation has been replaced by moisture so the "R" value goes way down.
