Photo Album: Sealed crawlspace with floor support in Scotland, On

Heather has a home with a dirt floor crawlspace in Scotland, On. The goal here was to encapsulate it (seal it of from damp soil) and support the floor. Phill from Omni Basement Systems inspected the home and recommended our patented Cleanspace vapor barrier to seal the crawlspace, Terra Block insulation to keep it warmer and our SmartJack with a supplemental beam from Supportworks.

Drainage matting

Drainage matting is installed over the dirt floor

Drainage pipe

To stop leaking, a drainage pipe is installed to drain water to the sump in the basemetn portion

Terra Block insulation.

Insulation is added to the floor to help stop coldness from coming out of the dirt and causing condensation.

Drop down duct.

When there is multiple level basement and crawlspace combination, a drop down duct is used to bring the water down to the sump level

Vapor Barrier

Cleanspace is installed over the drainage matting and the insulation. this acts a tough, durable vapor barrier.

SmartJacks with Supplemental beam

Caused by years of moisture in the crawlspace, the floor joists get weakened and get "bouncy". A fully gavanized beam is added and SmartJacks are installed to support the beam. To help distribute the load across the joists, Joist assist brackets are installed.
