Photo Album: Push Piers for settling foundation in St. Catharines, ON
Jack's noticed some settling in his St. Catharines home. He called Omni Basement Systems in to have a look. after a full inspection, Omni determined that the house had indeed settled. This was caused by the soil under his house had compressed. Omni recommended an Engineer to put together a plan. Omni started installing Push Piers under the foundation of the house. Push Piers are a supplemental support system for the foundation. gavanized steel tubes are pushed intot he soil until they reach bedrock or firm soil. In jack's case, Omni had to go 120 feet into the soil to reach soil that woulod properly support a house. Most likely, the house was built over a river bed. Once supportive soil is reached, the tubes are capped off and the house can be raised back into position.
