Be Proactive Not Reactive With Your Basement and Crawl Space Problem
I was talking with our general manager today about being proactive vs being reactive, and how important it is to take control of your problems before they turn into even bigger problems.
We hear a lot of things from customers like "We just want to wait and see what happens" or "It's just not a priority right now" and sometimes we see people who only want to fix the spot that is leaking right now instead of fixing the whole problem or taking preventitive measures.
Unfortunately, what we find here is that these things really do get worse with time, and waiting isn't going to make the problem go away.
Back in 2008 we recieved a call for an estimate to have a basement leak looked at. This couple had plans to finish their basement. Our representitive recommended a solution that would ensure the whole basement would stay dry.
However, the homeowner decided to only fix 2 wall cracks, even though more work was required as recommended by us. The basement was finished later that fall and the final cost was close to $47,000. As you can see in the photo below, they did a great job.
Unfortunately, during the spring thaw of 2010 the basement leaked in another area (as predicted by us.) The water created mold inside the walls, and they required extensive repairs to restore the basement.
Don't wait for an emergency, or a streak of bad weather to call us. Call us today and we will help you find solutions to your basement problems before they get worse!
